Manager of Talent Attraction

As manager of First West’s talent attraction team, Amanda draws upon her 11+ years of experience across the credit union to ensure that our teams and new employees in all areas of the business are set to succeed together. Her belief in continuous improvement and change management led Amanda to obtain LEAN Blackbelt certification and her Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) designation.

As an advocate for leadership development, Amanda currently spearheads the First West Young Leaders employee resource group and is a working committee member of the BC Young Leaders network.

Amanda is currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Australian Institute of Business. And when not at study or at the office, you’ll likely find her outdoors playing softball or spending time with her son.

Special Projects Lead

As special projects lead, Cara advances First West’s talent attraction strategy and manages key projects, including First West’s employee value proposition, The Power of You. She has held progressively senior positions since joining First West in 2006, all with a laser focus on attracting top talent to the organization.

Prior to her role at First West, Cara was a Branch Manager for recruitment firm Ajilon Finance, where she grew their Vancouver office from a team of five recruiters to fifteen in just three years. Her efforts were recognized with an award for most profitable Ajilon office in Canada.

A graduate of University of Victoria, Cara holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, as well as a human resources professional designation (CPHR).

Cara is passionate about volunteering, contributing her efforts to the Surrey Food Bank as part of First West’s Make a Difference Days, as well as her son’s local sports teams.

As senior talent attraction specialist, Jen manages a diverse portfolio of recruitment needs among shared services teams at First West.

Jen is a seasoned talent attraction and HR professional who’s accumulated more than 20 years’ experience in recruiting—10 of those within Canada’s credit union system. She developed her respect and appreciation for cooperative values during her time at Vancity Credit Union, where she worked as Manager of Talent.

Regarded as an innovative leader, Jen draws on outside-the-box tactics to discover new recruits. While she’s been involved with numerous initiatives within First West’s human resources team, her first passion is connecting the right candidate with the right role.

Away from the office Jen enjoys spending quality time with her family in the Comox Valley.

She’s spent many years working in accounting and finance which, combined with her BA in psychology from Trinity Western University and six-plus years as a corporate recruitment expertise, gives her special insight into matching talented individuals with the right opportunity to thrive at First West.

You’re lucky to be on Arby’s list of potential job candidates. As an intrepid account manager, she targets leading professionals who are seeking key roles to advance their career. If you’re the right person, you’ll quickly know it as Arby wastes no time in getting to know what makes you tick and how your goals align with ours. When Arby’s not engaged with soon-to-be employees, she’s creating memories with her husband and daughters by exploring BC’s amazing trails, or putting her (boundless) energy toward a variety of athletic pursuits.

Harmony is a talent attraction advisor with nearly a decade of human resources and career development experience. Her focus is on facilitating a positive recruitment experience, from start to finish, for both candidates and hiring managers.

After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree through the University of British Columbia, Harmony began working as a career development practitioner supporting youth and adult clients. This gave her an in-depth understanding of the candidate experience, as well as the barriers to employment faced by many. With significant involvement in both recruitment and employment counselling, she has developed a comprehensive understanding of the recruitment process with respect to all those involved.

Harmony is an active volunteer in her local Okanagan community and is passionate about supporting organizations that promote mental health, diversity and inclusion.

The people who help our members manage their money are our superstars. And as a Talent Attraction Advisor, Kelsey is always scouting for those who want to support the goals of our retail banking team and help local people thrive. That means recruiting people who – like her – believe in First West’s Big Ideals and who want to excel in their career and grow with our company.

In recent years, Kelsey supported several strategic initiatives at First West, including aligning human resources operations to the organization’s long-term objectives. And her own outlook involves continuing to help others progress in their profession as well as achieving her CPHR designation.
