Award-winning certification programs

Our role-specific training provides you with the resources and learning opportunities you need to succeed in your role. We empower you to continuously develop new skills through in-house programs that are inclusive and accessible—leveraging supportive technology—or by providing funding for external learning experiences.

A thoughtful approach to learning

Learning is not a one-time event. It happens in the classroom, with peers and on the job. This is why we approach learning through the 70-20-10 model which emphasizes the combined importance of formal training (10%), social learning (20%) and experiential, on-the-job experiences (70%).

A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB)

We believe in cultivating an environment in which every team member, member and community partner is valued for their uniqueness. We’ve challenged ourselves to move beyond aspiration towards genuine commitment by providing ongoing training for all team members, leaders and our board of directors. We’re also enabling a cross-functional workgroup and fostering affinity groups that bring together those wishing to effect change and elevate marginalized groups by removing barriers and better understanding their lived experiences.

To be part of a team of high performers and be supported to make a positive impact makes me feel included here at First West. My belonging here is about what I give to projects, teams and our brand and the appreciation and learning I get in return.
